BluePearl Pet Hospital in Paramus NJ is hiring an experienced Credentialed Veterinary Technician to work overnights in our Emergency + Critical Care department.**This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus.**Shifts: 3 12-hour shifts, including Sat + Sun overnightsPay: $25.25 - $51.00 / hour + competitive shift differentialsThis pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through CareerTrax leveling system. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.50 Shift DifferentialSat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.50 Shift DifferentialSat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $6.00 Shift DifferentialAs an Overnight ER Veterinary Technician, you will:Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.Why BluePearl?Our passion is pets.
