Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Sr. Engine Performance Methods and
Tools Engineer to join our systems engineering methods team in our
Engineering Methods & Tools department. The Sr. Engine Performance
Methods and Tools Engineer will be responsible for contributing to
and leading the development, deployment, and maintenance of system
simulation methods for 0-D Gas Turbine simulations and associated
tools, and providing user support to a large user community of
engine performance engineers and troubleshooting issues with user
simulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop new methods and tools to expand and mature the capabilities
of engine performance simulation and analysis. (Define
requirements, write code, troubleshoot, development and execution
of quality test plans, deploy, and help desk support).
Enhance current tools for better user experience (improved GUI,
execution speed, switch over to state-of-the-art coding
practices).
Prepare, maintain, or update documentation of methods and
tools.
Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to identify
improvement opportunities.
Works autonomously with limited oversight & may provide guidance to
lower experienced professionals with tasks and assignments.
Exhibit the ownership for the defined milestones in terms of
schedules & quality of deliverables.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering,
Mathematics, Computer Science or in a related engineering degree
and 5+ years of prior relevant gas turbine modeling and simulation
experience, OR
Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering,
Mathematics, Computer Science or in a related engineering degree
and 3+ years of prior relevant gas turbine modeling and simulation
experience.
US Citizenship required due to government programs.
Ability to obtain a US Government Security Clearance.
Travel up to 5%.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active US Government Security Clearance.
Experience in NPSS, C++, FORTRAN, Java, Python, Matlab.
Experience developing code for Windows and Linux operating
systems.
Experience in GitHub, JIRA or other code management and product
management software.
Experience working in an Agile environment.
Proficiency in scientific programming and object-oriented
concepts.
Good communication skills and working as a team player.
Possess excellent judgement and professional maturity.
Strong learner and provides creative solutions.
