Aftermarket & Sustainment Engineering (ASE) is looking for Repair Design Engineers (RDE) of all experience levels to support Commercial Engine Rotor Overhaul and Repair. The RDE is responsible for the development of repairs for the PW1100, PW4000, PW2000, V2500, GP7000 engines. This position focuses on evaluating nonconforming hardware and authoring technical data for repair execution. The selected candidate will develop these repairs, establish milestone plans, and will be responsible for the coordination of external/internal approvals, FAA regulatory approval, and repair source approval requirements. This position provides a great opportunity to have a tangible effect on P&W's aftermarket business and impact on P&W's airline customers. This position requires innovative and collaborative engineering skills along with office and shop floor hands-on experience. The ideal candidate will have strong fundamental engineering analysis skills and understanding of manufacturing processes. Significant interaction with internal and external customers as well as other engineering disciplines is expected; excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
The RDE works closely with the Design and Structures Leads, and other engineering disciplines to make the necessary technical decisions and repair design that meet the safety, quality, and customer needs. The team and organization will also provide expert guidance and support of career growth, proficiency development, identifying future opportunities, and employee well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Research operating environments and functionality of rotor and turbine components, interactions with mating parts; develop strategies which will return nonconformance hardware back to service via development of repairs technical requirement.
Establish repair concepts, design and FAA validation substantiation requirements for technical dialog or engineering authorizations relating to repairs.
Authoring part level and assembly level component repairs and other technical data / procedures.
Research and review source processes for alignment to published technical data. Analyze rotor operating trends and develop innovative repair strategies.
Obtain internal technical approvals, FAA regulatory approval and coordination with the end user.
Support investigations of engine field events requiring safety risk analysis, root cause and corrective actions as it relates to repair. Utilize modeling tools to understand critical rotor characteristics and generating figures and other repair requirements
Continuously develop or improve repair development processes and Engineering Standard Work
Participate in a multi-discipline organization to establish repair design requirements for new OEM Hardware. Provide routine status reports to customers and management through various channels.
Interface with technical, project and program management to secure priorities and understand programmatic issues
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of or preferably experience with manufacturing processes such as, machining, plating, plasma spray, or brazing.
Experience in an aerospace overhaul environment such as assembly and disassemble of aircraft power plants is also desired.
Able to manage numerous projects, and organization skills. Assertive and results-oriented with good problem-solving skills.
Understanding of FAA Regulation is plus.
Desire to expand engineering proficiency with excellent written and oral communication
Basic Qualifications:
Candidates for this role should possess a bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or similar degree with minimum of five years of experience or Advanced degree with three years of experience.US Citizenship due to government contracts.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. This means that responsibilities of the job need to be performed onsite on a regular basis.
Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee's personal responsibility.
Requires advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have practical knowledge of project

Typically requires:
A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
Engineering/Other Technical Positions:
Typically requires a degree in Science,Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
