Adaptive Optics Associates - Xinetics (AOX), a wholly-owned
Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Payload and Ground Systems Division
Business Venture, is a leading supplier of complex electro-optic
and photonic systems and subsystems that control and manipulate
light waves for a variety of applications. We are seeking an
Environmental Health and Safety Engineer to support our Special
Programs team in East Hartford, CT.
Overview:
Reporting to our Facilities Manager, the Environmental Health and
Safety Engineer will manage and oversee the EH&S program in
East Hartford to protect personnel, equipment and facilities.
Role and Responsibilities:
Interpret, recommend, and comply with EH&S regulations and/or
company policies
Collaborates with sector and business unit resources to follow best
practices
Assist in planning for changes in physical facilities to meet
current and new environmental and safety requirements
Oversees and supports laser and radiation safety
Manage the hazardous materials program including maintaining an
accurate inventory, ensuring proper storage, and scheduling/
documenting hazardous waste shipments; organize and equip spill
control process
Maintains current and accurate EH&S policies, manuals, and
procedures; create EH&S metrics that measure status and drive
improvements
Oversee accident/injury and near-miss investigation and reporting;
collaborative with all related documents and records
Facilitates the EH&S compliance calendar
Ensures training for new contractors and employees
Prepares environmental impact statements; applies for all permits
and renewals
Works with senior leadership team on site security
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 5+ years relevant experience, or 3 years of
relevant experience with a Masters' degree; 0 years of experience
with a PhD; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered
in lieu of a degree
Ability to perform job duties without appreciable direction and
supervision
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Excellent risk communication and collaboration skills with all
levels of an organization
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance
US Citizenship is a bona fide requirement
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications in environmental or safety related programs, for
example CHMM or CSP
Computer based skills specifically with Microsoft Word, Excel, and
Power Point programs.
Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Tableau
LSO - Laser Safety Officer Certification
Active Top Secret Clearance
Salary Range: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to
base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual
contributions as well as allow employees to share in company
results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be
eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman
