Job Description:
Overview
This position provides substantial technical and customer
interaction support to Team Leaders, commercial banking officers
and other Commercial Relationship Specialists as a key resource,
including taking a leadership role in interactions with key
business partners at the bank. Day- to- day responsibilities
include preparation of loan documentation packages, resolution of
customer operating problems, review and resolution of exception
reports, and working with commercial customers on day-to-day
support requirements to insure MSB delivers high quality service to
those customers. Performs any function necessary within scope of
authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service
and responsiveness to customer.
Responsibilities
- Actively works with Commercial Banking Team Leaders, Loan
Officers, Customers and Internal Operating Departments to
facilitate and support new and existing commercial loan, deposit
and cash management business.
- Individual takes a leadership role to improve internal
processes and work practices to insure that team members and LSS
staff are informed and trained in best practices. Serves as a
primary trainer of the LSS group regarding new hires, new
policies/procedures, new loan types.
- Prepares loan documentation packages that reflect the specific
underwriting loan structure unique to each transaction. Works with
outside legal counsel and internal loan operations staff to insure
all required documentation is gathered and prepared for review and
execution by commercial banking officer, including checklists and
set-up forms for new loan accounts and modification of existing
loan accounts.
- Responsible for loan funding based on approved commitments and
requirements to be met at closing. Orders and reviews such
documents as Flood Certifications, Appraisal and Environmental
Inspections, Insurance Certificates and OFAC checks.
- Follows up on post-closing documents to ensure all legal and
insurance requirements are met. Insures closed loan packages are
property processed and appropriate records/files obtained,
correctly and accurately completed, and properly filed in the
appropriate credit and/or legal file.
- Performs a review of the CAM or Officer Approval Memo for
accuracy and consistency. Prepares Term Sheets and Commitment
Letters from approved CAM/Officer Memo.
- Performs a pre-close review of the loan documents before
closing. Works with commercial banking officer and legal counsel to
effect any changes needed.
- Works to successfully transition new customers to the bank with
all aspects of the Lending and Deposit /Cash Management
Relationship.
- Works on a day-to-day basis with assigned relationships to
support customer activity that includes loan advances and pay
downs, loan participation financings, and monitoring deposit
accounts for over advance and overdraft activity, and resolve
account access and funding issues. Reconciles construction loan
advances against budgets, prepares advances, and executes
disbursements in compliance with inspecting engineer signoffs and
loan agreement requirements. Provides historical account
information to customers and their advisors in compliance with bank
policy. Resolves operational issues and documentation
exceptions.
- Establishes electronic credit files for new loan customers and
maintains electronic credit files for existing customers in an
orderly manner. Reviews, updates and maintains the Financial and
Covenant tracking report to obtain required ongoing credit file
documentation such as financial statements, tax returns and updated
personal financial statements. Actively communicates with corporate
management, accountants and financial advisors outside of the bank
to secure and maintain information.
- Maintains monthly and quarterly management reports including
borrowing base reports that govern lines of credit, regulatory
compliance reports, and sales and sales activity reports. Maintains
and reviews Loan Maturity/Renewal report to ensure loans and cash
management products are renewed and extended in a timely
manner.
- Works closely with Loan Servicing to ensure that loan
transactions are posted, processed, and correctly booked in a
timely and accurate manner. Responsible for insuring the input
documents for submission to Loan Servicing or other processing
areas are complete, accurate and property signed/authorized.
Reviews and corrects key information on loans booked. Works closely
with Loan Servicing regarding the set-up and process
development/improvement as to new loan products with the Bank -
i.e. Agented Bank Loans, Participations, Standby and Documentary
Letters of Credit, Libor loans and SWAPs.
- Solves a variety of relationship account issues. Researches
resolutions.
- Assists loan officers and the Credit Department in preparation
of loan submissions including but not limited to credit analyses
and loan approval requests, including electronic Credit Request
Sheet, Credit Terms & Conditions Template, Commitment Letter, Loan
Documentation Checklist, and OFAC check forms, and works with
Credit Administration to order, track and receive reports.
- Provides Cash Management support for completion of forms for
new account openings and modifications to existing accounts,
including online banking, remote deposit, lockbox, wire transfer
and ACH activity for general operating accounts, construction loan
accounts and escrow accounts. Works directly with cash management
and branch personnel and internal records and loan servicing
departments. Attends customer meetings with Cash Management to
evaluate and set up new and review existing customers.
- Refers sales opportunities to other departments or bank
affiliates in support of established objectives.
- Ensures full compliance with Bank's Information Security
Policies and Procedures.
- Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory
compliance guidelines.
- Performs related and unrelated duties as may be required.
Requirements
Education
- Associate's Degree or equivalent related work experience is
RequiredWork Experience
- 5+ years of commercial banking operational and customer
administrative experience is Required
- Prior experience working with legal documents is
PreferredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have strong organizational, operational, problem-solving,
project management and communication skills.
- Must possess intermediate technology skills including knowledge
of word processing database and excel spreadsheet
applications.
- Must possess ability to act independently and take a leadership
role under prescribed guidelines.
